Hong Kong University


HKU School of Professional And Continuing Education (HKU SPACE) was established in 1956 as one of the schools in the University of Hong Kong. It comprises 10 academic divisions, including arts and humanities, social sciences, business, law and information technology.

HKU SPACE has about 800 full-time staff and 2000 part-time teaching staff. Student enrollment exceeds 100,000 every year, with around 18,000 full-time students.

GEM-HKU SPACE Collaboration
GEM collaborated with HKU SPACE and the Suzhou University of Science and Technology to set up the HKU SPACE Global College in 2005 to support the development of the Suzhou Industrial Park, Suzhou and the economic development of the Yangtze delta region.

It is the first college to be created through a Sino-foreign collaboration in Jiangsu province.

About University of Hong Kong & HKU SPACE

The University of Hong Kong, established in 1911, is a world-renowned university with a long history in Hong Kong. It was listed as the third best university in the Asia Pacific (Asiaweek in 2000). It grew from the Hong Kong College of Medicine founded in 1887. Among its first batch of graduates was Dr Sun Yat-sen who regarded the University as the birthplace of knowlege.

Collaboration with other Universities
HKU SPACE is the international school of the University which collaborates with overseas universities: UK, Australia, US and Canada. It also collaborates with mainland universities such as Tsinghua University and Dongbei University of Economics and Finance.

Academic Programs
HKU SPACE currently offers more than 100 undergraduate, postgraduate disploma, masters and doctoral programmes, all renowned for their professional excellence and academic standard. Its Associate Degree and Higher Diploma programs enable students to complete the first two years of studies locally, with the option of completing the remaining years locally or at an overseas university. Credits earned are recognised at more than 50 universities enabling the student to acquire prestigious international degrees without having to go abroad for their studies.

Corporate Training
The school is well-known for its professional education programs which enables students to earn credit in overseas university programs. It also runs corporate training programs for private and government executives covering administration, legal system, auditing, banking and finance, human resource management and marketing.
