GEM Strategy

GEM's strategy is built on two anchor colleges, each leading an education division -- business & management, and software & technology.

  Business & Management School
GEM partnered with HKU SPACE and Suzhou Science and Technology University to build GEM's anchor business and management school, the HKU SPACE Global College (HSGC). GEM will use this base to further its business and management education development.

HSGC is located on the 25-acre GEM SIP Campus. It is a fully-licensed higher diploma (Dazhuan) college, the first Sino-foreign joint venture college in Jiangsu Province.

  Software & Technology School
GEM partnered with Microsoft Corporation to build GEM's anchor software and technology school, the GEM Software Training Center (GSTC). It had an initial funding of RMB 30 million with software sponsorship from Microsoft.

GSTC is located at GEM's Xinqu Campus in the Suzhou New District, west of the city, with a built-up area of 100,000 sq.m.

GEM distinguishes its educational programmes in the following ways.

Migration to English
As far as possible the medium of instruction will migrate to English. This enhances the student's ability to operate on international projects, such as software development and services outsourcing.
  International Curriculum
Achieved through programme collaboration with leading universities and knowledge providers and inhouse programmes.
  International Faculty
The anchor faculty member/academic director is from abroad, and colleges maintain an appropriate ratio of foreign to local teaching staff.
  Industry Linkage
GEM is a pioneer in developing industry linkages for education programmes in order to produce work-ready graduates.
