Dato' Dr Chong Eng Keat
Vice Chairman, GEM Group

Dato' Dr Chong Eng Keat is currently the President and CEO of Kolej Disted-Stamford. He graduated from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) with an honours degree in Chemistry in 1975 and obtained his Doctorate in Chemistry in 1979 under an Australian National University scholarship. On graduation, he was appointed as a lecturer in USM's School of Chemistry.

Dr Chong left USM to join Intel as a process engineer in 1980. During his 22 plus years in Intel, Dr Chong assumed various technical as well as manufacturing management positions in the company and has local as well as international experience in starting up and running Intel's operations in the Philippines as well as in the United States. Before retiring from Intel in 2002, Dr Chong was the Vice-President and General Manager of Intel's Worldwide Board and Systems Operations.

Dr Chong is also involved with promoting business and research connectivity between companies and also with the universities. He is the deputy chairman of the Collaborative Research and Resource Centre and an advisor to the SCOPE, a consortium of software companies in Penang. He sits on the Boards of Globetronics Technology and MQ Technology as an independent non executive director and is on the Committee of the Penang Free School Foundation.
